Biography
Vesevo is an ancient name for the volcano overlooking the Gulf of Naples. The band was formed in 2014 in the same region by three musicians who grew up in the shadow of Mount Vesuvius and have deep experience with the traditional music of Campania and southern Italy.
Vesevo does more than reinterpret tradition: the trio explores, deconstructs and renews it, turning it into vivid, visceral music shaped by the sounds of the present.
The self-titled debut appeared on Agualoca Records in 2015 and was reviewed by The Guardian and Songlines. The second album, Tien’ ’a ment, was released by Liburia Records in 2025. Vesevo performed at WOMAD UK in 2017.
