03 · ABOUT

Ancient roots,
living sound.

Vesevo is an ancient name for the volcano overlooking the Gulf of Naples. The band was formed in 2014 in the same region by three musicians who grew up in the shadow of Mount Vesuvius and have deep experience with the traditional music of Campania and southern Italy.

Vesevo does more than reinterpret tradition: the trio explores, deconstructs and renews it, turning it into vivid, visceral music shaped by the sounds of the present.

From Vesevo (2015) to Tien’ ’a ment (Liburia Records, 2025), the trio brings together Antonio Fraioli, Antonio Di Ponte and Francesco Paolo Manna.

The debut was reviewed by The Guardian and by Songlines. In 2017 the trio performed at WOMAD UK, with a mention in The Arts Desk review.
